Volunteering with Us

Every section is run by volunteers, and we couldn’t operate without the support we receive from parents. We most often need help with:

If you can help with any of the above, or anything else, drop us an email at [email protected] or talk to your section leader after a meeting.

Helping with Scouts

Meetings and Trips

Unless otherwise stated we meet at the Trevor Bailey Sports Ground. Please enter the building via the main front door and then turn immediately right. The Scout HQ is up the metal staircase at the end of the corridor. There is a video doorbell to the right of the main front door - press for access. (But it's the left door that opens!)

Our meeting times:

We meet every week during term time, unless we’re going away on a trip. Please note that within the Cub and Scout sections we have an expectation that you attend most meetings - repeated unexplained absences will result in your place going to someone on our waiting list. There is no expectation of regular attendance for Explorers, but it is useful for our planning purposes if you can indicate on OSM if you are not planning to attend a meeting.

We run a range of activity, hiking, and camping weekends throughout the year. We believe these are as important as our weekly meetings in terms of your Scouts experience with us. Please note that as Dulwich College sponsors our group, our Cub and Scout trip dates generally align with their term dates. Explorer term and trip dates aim to align with the school terms of the majority of our Explorers. You can see upcoming dates in OSM or on our calendar.

Everything we do involves an element of risk - you can read more about how we manage this on the Scouts website. Each trip we run has a risk assessment, which is approved by the district (in our case Southwark Scouts). These are available on request.

Uniform

For the first few meetings feel free to turn up in casual clothing until you're certain you want to become a member. You will need uniform in early November to formally join the group at our Investiture Evening or, for Explorers, at one of our half-termly uniform meetings.
