If you need help choosing kit, speak to a leader after a meeting or email us.
If you can’t afford something for camp, we can usually lend it to you—just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

All penknives, firelighting devices and aerosol cans are banned Do not bring any of the above to camp. Patrols will be supplied with everything they need to cook meals and light fires, and if you need deodorant then use roll-on. Any items of this nature will be confiscated and not returned.

Please do not pack any food or sweets (except a packed lunch for the journey down). This helps us avoid issues with allergies, wildlife, arguments, etc. There will be a well stocked fizz stall on camp and plenty of food.

Mobile phones will be kept in a lockbox apart from days out From this year we’ll keep all mobile phones in a lockbox, except when Scouts are off-site - where they can be useful in emergencies. Please bear this in mind if bringing devices to camp. All devices brought at your own risk. Electronic games are banned.

All your kit should be packed into a rucksack or kit bag. Don’t hang items on the outside—they often fall off and get lost. If you need more space, use a separate bag (eg: labelled bag for life)
If buying a new rucksack, a 60–70 litre size is ideal. Cheaper options from stores like Outdoors and Decathlon usually last 3–5 years and are fine for most Scouting. This will be useful if you plan to do your Expedition Challenge
